DSG Ireland subsidiary Currys is to create 20 jobs at a new electronics store in Dundalk, bringing total employment at DSG companies – including Currys, PC World and Dixons – to 820 this year.
With a 10,000sq ft trading area, this new Currys retail outlet is the tenth wholly owned store in the chain to open in Ireland and the first branch to be located in Louth.
The store will stock over 3,000 product lines, including digital vision, DVD, home theatre, audio, photographic technology, cooking, laundry, refrigeration, computing, communications and small domestic appliances.
“The new Currys store in Dundalk reflects our philosophy of offering customers an attractive combination of value, choice and service with the widest ranges, competitive prices, latest technology and excellent after sales service,” said Declan Ronayne, managing director, DSG Retail Ireland.
The store will open seven days a week and will offer a convenient home delivery service for larger items.
In recent weeks, DSG Ireland’s parent company DSG International suffered a pre-tax loss during the 12 months to May 2008 of £192.8m sterling, with the group describing the year as “challenging” and indicating cost-cutting measures are on the horizon.
DSG Ireland, however, said it is prospering and plans to create 40 jobs in Ireland in the year ahead
