Dell adds to the cloud with Boomi acquisition

2 Nov 2010

Dell has announced it has acquired SaaS integration company Boomi for its cloud computing portfolio for an undisclosed amount.

Dell’s CEO Michael Dell earlier hinted that he would announce a cloud computing acquisition later today, which is now seen in the form of its purchase of Boomi.

Boomi offers a SaaS application integration platform that reduces the cost and complexity of integrating apps by allowing transfer of data between cloud apps and on-premise apps without the need for coding or software.

“The Boomi team is thrilled to be joining the Dell family,” said Bob Moul, Boomi president and CEO, in a statement.

“This was a fantastic outcome for the team, our customers and partners. Dell gives us the global platform to continue to scale Boomi AtomSphere as the leading integration solution in the SaaS and cloud computing industry.”

This purchase sees Dell build on its cloud computing portfolio. It previously lost out on an acquisition for 3PAR, after a fierce bidding war with HP.
