UPC Ireland appoints new CEO

UPC Ireland has appointed Dana Strong as its new CEO, effective from 1 May 2011. She will succeed Robert Dunne, who will become managing director at UPC Netherlands.

Strong has been chief operating officer of satellite subscription TV provider AUSTAR since 2002. It provides this service to more than 760,000 customers in regional Australia.

Both UPC Ireland and UPC Netherlands are subsidiaries of cable operator Liberty Global, which owns a 54pc indirect majority interest in AUSTAR as of 30 September 2010.

“I am delighted to welcome Dana Strong to our European management team,” said Diederik Karsten, managing director, European broadband operations of Liberty Global said.  

“Dana brings a wealth of experience gained over the years in her role in AUSTAR and this will be extremely valuable as UPC Ireland looks to extend its lead in the entertainment and communications sector,” said Karsten.

“I am very excited about my appointment and I am looking forward to the opportunity to contributing to UPC Ireland’s continued success and growing the company and its operations,” said Strong.
