Digital Ireland Forum to address nation’s economic opportunity

25 Jul 2011

A panel of digital leaders led by Oscar and BAFTA-award winning film producer and former UK government digital adviser Lord David Puttnam will focus on the digital economy opportunity for Ireland at the Digital Ireland Forum in September.

At a breakfast briefing on Friday, 30 September, at 7.30am in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, Lord Puttnam will be joined by some of the most senior ICT industry executives to discuss pivotal subjects, from broadband infrastructure to education and digital skills. Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD will open proceedings.

The various panels will include: Vodafone CEO Jeroen Hoencamp, BT Ireland CEO Graham Sutherland, Cisco Ireland managing director Mary Lou Nolan, EMC Ireland country manager Jason Ward, the head of innovation at Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt Fiona O’Carroll, TelecityGroup Ireland MD Maurice Mortell and Promethean’s chief education officer Jim Wynn.

It is vital as a country that Ireland puts in place the right policies in education and skills, digital infrastructure and social inclusion, if it is to create a sustainable recovery, and the jobs and prosperity that implies.
