Cork cloud-based quality management software firm Qumas has been acquired by life sciences software player Accelrys Inc in a deal understood to be valued at around US$50m.

Microsoft has acquired independent game developer Twisted Pixel, best known for the creation of Splosion Man and Kinect game The Gunstringer.
Twisted Pixel was founded in 2006 and is located in Texas, US. The company has developed games exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC.
The team of developers will join Microsoft Studios to further work on the Xbox 360 platform.

Twisted Pixel joins game developers Rare and Lionhead Studios within this unit, who were previously acquired by Microsoft.
