HTC’s focus on China, LTE devices and entry-level phones rocketed the mobile phone maker’s Q3 net income to about US$624.6m, marking a 68pc increase over the same period last year.

The figure is also a 7pc increase over HTC’s highest quarter to date, which was last quarter.

Revenues grew for the sixth consecutive quarter, hitting US$4.5bn, up 79pc on same time a year ago.

Gross margin and operating margin were 28.0pc and 14.9pc respectively, both within guidance range.

The company shipped 13.2m units in the third quarter this year, marking a 93pc increase over the same period last year.

Among the products HTC launched globally in the quarter are the HTC Sensation XE and HTC Sensation XL, “to create emotional
connection with the HTC brand through studio-quality music experience and Beats brand image”, the company said.

The HTC Rhyme also hit the market. The mobile phone has been designed to “deliver a personal, lifestyle product integrating distinct colours, HTC Sense, and complementary accessories,” HTC said.
