Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer

Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is trying to woo Twitter’s executive of international markets Katie Jacobs Stanton over to the company for a top job pertaining to media, AllThingsD reported several sources as saying.

Stanton, who previously worked at Google – Mayer’s former stomping ground – was instrumental in the creation of Google Finance, the search giant’s financial news and ticker service.

Stanton also worked at Yahoo! from 1999-2002, and while there created Yahoo Finance, which is now one of the most popular products in Yahoo!’s online portfolio.

In other words, as Kara Swisher reported on AllThingsD, Stanton knows media.

There is no definite word on what job Stanton may or may not be contemplating, but one source reportedly said it could involve running Yahoo!’s homepage. Another source said it could be an even bigger role.
