Retailer HMV is to re-open on Grafton Street in Dublin city centre, HMV and Xtra-vision owner Hilco Capital has revealed.

The seller of music, film, games and technology products won’t be returning to its former space in the pedestrian shopping area, however. HMV’s new home will be the premises that had been occupied by A-Wear, next to BT2 and adjacent to Bewley’s Café.

An official opening date for the new HMV store is to be announced soon.

Richard Guiney, CEO of the Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID), welcomed the news.

“The news that HMV is returning to Grafton Street is very welcomed as is the 35 jobs it will create,” Guiney said.

“They have been sorely missed from the area.”
