Facebook passes 2m advertisers

25 Feb 2015

Facebook has reached a new milestone by hitting 2m active advertisers, the social network revealed in an open letter attributed to co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg.

The open letter thanked all the company’s advertisers.

“This is a moment to celebrate all the incredible entrepreneurs like you who are creating value for their communities,” Sandberg and Zuckerberg said.

The pair reeled off a number of successful companies that have promoted themselves via Facebook, though it’s worth pointing out they provided no evidence that any of their prosperity was to do with advertising through the site.

“Our mission is to make the world more open and connected, and an important part of that is helping people connect with businesses,” they wrote.

“Today, we want to express our thanks to you and all of our advertising partners – 2m strong and growing every day. We’re going to keep working to serve you better, so you can continue creating jobs and opportunities in your community, and moving the entire world forward.”
