3 Ireland cuts prepaid messaging costs

3 Ireland has announced that its prepay customers are to be given 5¢ text, picture and video messages for life.

The 5¢ offer is for all new and old customers of the operator's 3Pay service who join before 31 January 2007 and will apply for as long as they stay connected to the 3Pay plan.

Customers will not have to register for the deal, which covers all text, picture and video messages sent within the Republic of Ireland to any network at any time.

The company said the deal was the most competitive on the market for messaging services.

Managing director Robert Finnegan hit out at his firm's competitors whom he accused of exploiting consumers. "3 is shaking up an uncompetitive market, bringing text, picture and video messaging to Irish consumers at better value. Consumers in Ireland have been exploited for too long," he said.
