UCD plan aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship

University College Dublin (UCD) has unveiled a new plan that sets out to play a major role in Ireland’s economic recovery.

The plan, Forming Global Minds, aims to achieve this by contributing to building Ireland’s smart economy by fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

Forming Global Minds will “create the business leaders and educated workforce that will be critical to creating the knowledge economy and to securing Ireland’s international competitive advantage”.

Excellence

“A defining characteristic of the plan is to build on our excellence in teaching and research and to place greater emphasis on the impact which these activities have on the economic, environmental, social and political life of the nation,” the plan reads.

The plan’s main themes are: earth sciences, energy and the environment, global Ireland, health and healthcare delivery, information, computation and communications.
