Paypal to create 150 jobs in Dublin

16 Feb 2011

Online payments provider Paypal is to create 150 new jobs at its European operations and customer service headquarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

PayPal is offering full-time and part-time positions in customer service and merchant services for candidates who are fluent in English and have a second European language.

PayPal’s European operation centre was established in Dublin in 2003. Since then, the number of staff has increased from just 25 to more than 1,200 today. In 2009, it successfully secured an investment of €15m from IDA Ireland to open a European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown. The Dublin facility manages all direct customer contact for PayPal’s businesses throughout Europe.

Louise Phelan, senior director for global customer services and EU merchant services, PayPal European operations, said, “PayPal’s continuing success story means that we need to expand our excellent team in Dublin for the fourth time in the last two years.

“We have gone from strength to strength since the Taoiseach officially opened our European Centre of Excellence in March 2009. I look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to our Centre of Excellence here at Blanchardstown. I would also like to thank the IDA for the support we have received from it over the years.”

High-calibre foreign direct investment

Barry O’Leary, CEO IDA Ireland, said, “The creation of a further 150 jobs, in addition to the more than 200 jobs it has announced in the previous two years, is great news both locally and nationally and underlines Ireland’s continuing ability to attract high-calibre foreign direct investment.”

“PayPal’s investment represents a key endorsement from one of the world’s leading online companies, and builds on Ireland’s reputation as the internet capital of Europe. I would like to congratulate the management and staff of PayPal on their latest achievement and I look forward to building on IDA’s close relationship with the company as it expands its Irish operations,” O’Leary added.
