LinkedIn to create 100 new jobs in Dublin

30 Mar 2011

LinkedIn, the most popular professional network across the globe, is to create 100 new jobs in Dublin, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD announced today.

The jobs, which will be available over the next 12 months, will include graduate and experienced positions, with opportunities in sales, business development, marketing, customer services, finance, HR and operations. There are already more than 15 jobs on offer today.

“LinkedIn is an excellent addition to the thriving digital media industry operating from Ireland. The creation of 100 jobs by a leading global internet company across a wide range of business functions is very welcome indeed and will provide employment opportunities for highly skilled staff in an exciting and innovative business,” said Bruton.

Connie Gibney, international human resources director at LinkedIn, commented, “LinkedIn has continued to expand since we opened our international headquarters in Dublin in March 2010, working closely with IDA Ireland. Since then, we’ve added more than 70 people to our team here and 40m additional members worldwide. We’re looking for more great people to help us connect the world’s professionals with more opportunities on a massive scale.”

“Ireland is increasingly one of the world’s centres of talented people with international language skills and experience in working for fast-growing internet companies. This makes it the ideal place from which to support our continuing growth in Europe and further abroad,” added Gibney.

Welcoming the announcement, IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary, said, “This expansion by the leading professional online network is further evidence of Ireland’s position as the ‘Internet Capital of Europe’. Ireland now hosts the top 5 leading global companies born on the internet.”

LinkedIn allows users to put their entire CVs on the site, sharing their professional information and experience with other professionals online. It also enables them to build networks, see who has viewed their profile and helps users to search for jobs.

The California-headquartered company, which was launched in 2003, has 1m new members that join the site every week. In Europe, LinkedIn reached 20m users in December 2010 and announced 100m members worldwide last week.

Earlier this month, LinkedIn also announced the opening of a new LinkedIn office in Paris, following UK, Netherlands and Ireland. The company’s Dublin offices are located at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.
