1 May 2011

Tipperary company VisionID has signed a deal with global provider of vision and AutoID technology Cognex, which will mean an increase in its workforce over the coming months and an jump in product sales of around €250,000 a year.

The Clonmel-based mobile computing and barcode technology company has already added two engineers to its workforce of 16 following a deal with Cognex, which has a manufacturing plant in Cork.

VisionID said it is confident it will buck the recession by increasing its workforce even further by the end of this year.

Under the partnership deal, VisionID will become an Automation Solution Provider Partner of Cognex. This means VisionID will now have access to Cognex’s complete ID product set and expertise so it will now be able to provide its client base with solutions to improve the quality of its products, eliminate production errors, lower manufacturing costs and exceed consumer expectations.

VisionID already has a close working relationship with other leading technology providers, including Motorola, Zebra, Honeywell and Intermec.

Established in 2000, VisionID specialises in track and trace systems which are widely used across the manufacturing, retail, healthcare and transport/logistics sectors.

Vision ID’s products include barcode scanners and label printers, fixed position scanners, handheld computers, touchscreen monitors.

Its real-time technology is used by the likes of Odlums, Dairygold, the Mater Hospital, Centocor, Renishaw and Clonmel Healthcare.
