2 Sep 2010

AOL Global Operations has revealed that in addition to the 50 jobs announced in June, some 20 new software engineering roles are to be created in Dublin.

AOL is working to expand its reach as a leading provider of internet advertising technologies, services and user content through a wide range of AOL content brands and sites.

The company announced 50 jobs at its Dublin operation in June.

The majority of the new jobs are with AOL’s Media Technology division and will focus on developing AOL’s global media channels which includes more than 80 individual brands.

“We are very pleased to be seeking a further 20 software engineers to join our Media Technology, Advertising Technology and Patch teams in Dublin,” said Aengus McClean, head of AOL Global Operations Limited.

“We are aiming to fill these posts as soon as possible and plan to begin interviews within the next couple of weeks. We had a strong response to our last recruitment drive in June and we are confident we can find the right people with the skill set we need.”

“This is a very exciting time for AOL, and particularly for our expanding operations in Dublin. We have a very clear goal to become the leading web services company in the world, and our Irish operations will play a crucial role in our success,” McClean added.

The new jobs are all high value experienced professional software engineering positions, suitable for candidates with Java qualifications.

The majority of new recruits will join AOL’s Media Technology team working on AOL’s highly successful global media channels and sites, including AOL News, DailyFinance and the AOL.com homepage.

AOL is also seeking candidates for its Advertising Technology division in Dublin, which develops AOL’s advertising services ADTECH and AOL Advertising, and its new company Patch – a new local news service which provides personalised news in towns across the United States.

AOL’s portfolio of technologies attracts an average worldwide audience of 248 million unique visitors each month, according to comScore Media Metrix July 2010 Unified Data.

AOL has been based in Dublin for the past 10 years and currently employs 133 people. Dublin is its development engine for Europe and works alongside its sister Development Centres in San Francisco, Dulles, New York, Bangalore and Frankfurt.
