Demand abroad for engineers and technicians – Manpower

12 Aug 2011

Engineers, technicians and skilled trades workers are among the top 10 hardest jobs to fill in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany and New Zealand, a new survey reveals.

The Manpower’s 2011 annual Talent Shortage Survey shows that one in three employers globally report difficulties filling positions due to lack of available talent.

Engineers are in the top 4 hardest jobs to fill in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany and New Zealand, while generally technicians and IT staff are in high demand.

Manpower advises that when searching for employment abroad, candidates need to research local job application practices and convince the employer that they are the right fit and have the potential to succeed in the role in order to secure a position.

Many employers can facilitate web-based interviews which require detailed preparation, just like a face-to-face interview.
