25 Aug 2011

Digisoft.tv, which makes software for the burgeoning digital TV industry worldwide, is to create 30 new jobs at its head office in Cork. New roles include R&D, sales and operations.

Digisoft’s expansion is in response to the explosion in demand globally from customers for advanced converged multiscreen TV, on demand and IP services across the TV, mobile and web.

Digisoft’s software platform enables TV service providers and operators to offer multiple advanced TV and on demand services such as Video and Music on Demand, social media services, targeted advertising as well as linear TV services across a wide range of devices.

This allows operators and service providers to rapidly deploy advanced converged revenue generating services, and offer the most open, cost-effective and flexible content delivery solution in the market place today.

Founded in 2000, Digisoft has over 10 years experience in the development of interactive TV applications for the television and digital set top box market.

Digisoft has deployed its solutions with operators throughout the world including Russia, New Zealand, United States, Thailand, Australia and Europe and is planning to expand its operations into other APAC regions and South America.

Next generation TV apps

The company is seeking to augment its in-house engineering expertise with new development talent with skill sets ranging from Java, C/C++, Flash, embedded technology developers and hardware engineers to develop new modular offerings that allow operators to respond to the growing demand for new converged IP based services across the full 4-screen service delivery (TV, mobile, web and tablets). New staff will also work on the delivery of next generation interactive TV educational content.

Announcing the expansion, Eoin Shanaghy, head of R&D, said that TV operators and service providers are facing complex challenges as they respond to the unprecedented demand for content and internet services across multiple devices.

“We are seeking suitably qualified people who are interested in working in at the forefront of an industry that has evolving at a pace hitherto unseen in its 60 year history” he concluded.
