BT Ireland appoints new CEO – Sutherland promoted to Group

BT Ireland CEO Graham Sutherland has been promoted to managing director of the BT Business Group in the UK, where he will preside over a stg£2.3bn a year business. Colm O’Neill, managing director of Business in Ireland will become CEO of the all-Ireland business.

Sutherland has been with BT since 2006, joining as chief financial officer of BT Ireland before becoming CEO. In his new role, he will head up a business division that generated in excess of £2.3 billion in revenue last fiscal year.

Colm O’Neill joined BT in 2009 as managing director of Business in Ireland. O’Neill previously worked for nine years in EMC, holding a number of senior management positions across the UK and Ireland, most recently as country manager for EMC Ireland.

BT Ireland reported revenues of £750 million for the year ending 31stMarch 2011. 

Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer of BT Retail said: “BT Ireland has performed well in a challenging economic climate and competitive marketplace.

“This is testament to the skills and expertise of the leadership team in Ireland, and their successful track record.

“Graham has helped BT to become the strong and sustainable brand it is in Ireland today, which will enable Colm and his team to focus on further investing for growth,” Patterson said.
