Netwatch’s US expansion to create 15 jobs in Carlow

11 Oct 2011

Protection services company Netwatch has announced a €3m investment in its expansion into the US market, a move that will see it create 15 jobs in its new Boston office by the end of 2012, as well as a further 15 jobs at its Carlow headquarters.

“This is a very significant milestone in the international growth of our company,” said David Walsh, group CEO of Netwatch. “We already monitor US sites for some of our Irish-based multinational clients and building on that business is a natural progression for us.”

Netwatch provides real-time remote security monitoring to businesses and private residences in Ireland and internationally. The Netwatch system uses advanced protection technologies, including GPS tracking, audio visual detection, personal protector equipment and wireless perimeter security cordons to protect individuals and premises.

‘Enterprise Ireland provided us with a feasibility grant and robust testing over the past 12 months has proven that it is possible to remotely monitor sites across the Atlantic from Carlow,” said Walsh.

Netwatch provides a managed service which, according to Walsh, is ideally tailored to the US market. “There is no capital investment required by our customers – we own the technology and are fully responsible for all aspects of the service, from installation of the equipment, maintenance and upgrading of the technology throughout the contract period and providing a 24/7, 365-day monitoring service.

“Our real-time, remote surveillance protection technologies monitor multiple flash points simultaneously and for a fraction of the cost. Each installation is unique to the needs of that customer and time after time beats our customers’ expectations in terms of their security requirements.”

Established in 2003, by Walsh and Niall Kelly, technical director, Netwatch currently employs 90 staff and was the first company in Ireland to combine specialist video transmission technologies with satellite communications to provide protection solutions for clients. Last year, the company invested more than €5m in its communication hub in Carlow.
