Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD

The Irish Government is to reveal its Action Plan on Jobs this afternoon, with a goal to create 100,000 jobs over the next four years.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, prepared the plan, which also involved 15 Government departments and 30 state agencies. A committee at the Department of the Taoiseach will monitor the plan.

The plan, which contains more than 250 measures, focuses on competition, the financial services sector, supporting indigenous businesses, and encouraging foreign direct investment.

The Government would also like to encourage more co-operation with companies in the life sciences area, with nine out of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies operating out of Ireland, the Irish Times reported.
