PayPal to create 1,000 call centre jobs in Ireland?
Reports suggest that online payment service PayPal is set to announce at least 1,000 new call centre jobs in Ireland later today.
RTÉ News reports that PayPal will announce the new jobs as part of plans to open a number of new call centres in Ireland.
In November, the Irish Times reported that the firm will be looking for call centre staff with English and other languages in Dundalk or Limerick. Recent reports suggest the firm could split call centres between Dublin, Dundalk and Limerick.
The announcement would be a major jobs gain for Ireland. PayPal currently employs 1,500 people at its European base in Blanchardstown, Dublin.
An IDA Ireland spokesperson gave no comment as to whether or not PayPal would be creating the new jobs.
