Career Zoo 2012 hopes to have up to 4,000 jobs on offer

28 May 2012

Now in its fourth year, a day at the Career Zoo just got bigger, with a move to the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) and even more employers in attendance.

The previous Career Zoo was held in the Mansion House, Dublin, and attracted 10,000 visitors, filling many posts across a variety of sectors in the process. Now, the careers event for graduates and professionals is expanding to the iconic CCD.

“September’s Career Zoo will be bigger and better than our previous events,” said Brian Ó hOisín, director at Career Zoo. “We’re very excited to be heading down to the Convention Centre; it’s a world-class venue right in the city centre and we see this event as a national showcase of the great opportunities that are out there in Ireland today.”

Thousands of job opportunities

Ó hOisín is anticipating between 3,500 and 4,000 professional jobs will be on offer at the upcoming Career Zoo, coming from major multinational corporations, as well as indigenous Irish companies. Educators and enterprise organisations will also be attendance to provide information on upskilling and conversion programmes, while careers workshops and seminars by industry leaders will be held throughout the day.

Microsoft, one of the event’s sponsors, will be on the lookout for potential employees at the event, while Hays Recruitment, another sponsor, will be hosting a Careers Clinic, providing one-on-one advice.

”In order to get the economy back to a period of economic growth we all have a responsibility to do what we can to support the objective of getting people back to work,” said Joe Ffrench, HR director, Microsoft Ireland. “We are delighted to support the team’s ongoing efforts and will support the event both as the sponsor and as a prospective employer.”

Other features of Career Zoo include a start-up zone, and new for this year is the ‘interactive zone’, which will showcase products and services from the world’s most innovative organisations – as well as some fun stuff to break up the day.

The Irish Research Council will also be holding its annual symposium at Career Zoo, with highly skilled researchers, including PhD and post-doctoral candidates, attending.

Career Zoo takes place in the Convention Centre Dublin on 22 September 2012, from 11am to 6pm. For further details, or to register as an attendee, visit the Career Zoo website.
