Specialist IT security solutions company Mandiant is to create 100 new jobs in Dublin with the establishment of an engineering and security operations centre in the city.
Mandiant provides security products and services that find and stop advanced attackers who bypass IT security controls and is one of only four companies certified to respond to cyber security attacks in the United Kingdom via the Cyber Incident Response programme that is administered by CESG, the Information Assurance arm of the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ).
New jobs created will be in the areas of software engineering and security operations. In the product development arena, Mandiant seeks to fill quality engineering and product development roles. The new facility will also serve as Mandiant’s Euro-based security operations centre where they are looking to hire information technology and security operations expertise. The firm will also be looking to fill a number of administrative professional positions.
Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, welcomed the news. He said ICT is a key sector targeted for growth under the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs.
“In the past 18 months, we have implemented a range of new measures to support this sector and seen thousands of extra jobs created in start-ups and world-leading multinationals. Today’s announcement that Mandiant, a specialist company in the fast-growing IT security sector, is establishing operations in Ireland with the creation of 100 high-end jobs is great news,” Bruton said.
Security: a leading growth area in IT
Demand for Mandiant products and services is growing rapidly and in order to successfully manage technology and services delivery to clients, a footprint in Europe has become necessary to support both European and US clients.
“Mandiant chose Ireland as the location for this operation to drive our growth in Europe, as well as to support the US market,” Dave Merkel, chief technology officer of Mandiant, explained.
“We look forward to joining Ireland’s well-established security cluster, the availability of top-tier engineering talent and the benefits of working in such a pro-business environment.”
IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary said security is well established as one of the leading growth areas in the IT industry.
“Attracting Mandiant to establish its first operation outside of the US, and one which will include top-level specialist security professionals to manage both US and European activities, is an excellent win for the thriving IT security sector in Ireland,” O’Leary said.
