Career memes of the week: blogger

13 Aug 2013

This week we take a look at the funny side of blogging, that profession where a writer maintains an online journal that belongs either to him or her or an organisation.

A blogger who blogs for an organisation, be it a freelance blogger or someone already on staff, usually works within a larger marketing role and may use the blog to promote what the company, or its clients, have to offer.

A blogger who has created his or her own blog may try to monetise off his or her own content. A blogger’s earning potential can vary, as a result.

Both types of bloggers are tasked with coming up with unique content on a regular basis that will attract new readers and retain old ones. One way bloggers can woo new readers and hang onto current followers is by sharing links to new blog posts on social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Social media savvy, discipline, creativity, time management and solid writing skills are all traits that will serve a blogger well.
