Jazz Pharmaceuticals to create 210 jobs in Co Westmeath

US biopharmaceutical company Jazz Pharmaceuticals is to create 160 construction jobs and 50 full-time jobs with the set up of a new plant outside Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, which will be based in Monksland, will run a new manufacturing and development facility at the plant, RTÉ reported.

The company established roots in Ireland in January 2012 after a merger with Azur Pharma.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is expected to meet with the management of Jazz Pharmaceuticals this afternoon.

The company works to identify, develop and commercialise products in therapeutic areas, with a speciality in pain, psychiatry, narcolepsy, and oncology.
