Career Zoo preview: companies seeking talented tech hires

Visitors to Career Zoo on Saturday, 15 February, in the Convention Centre Dublin will have the opportunity to meet and connect with potential employers. We take a closer look at some of the tech employers exhibiting at the free event.

TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, is seeking engineers to deliver high-performing solutions to hundreds of millions of monthly users. Its recently established Dublin engineering hub enjoys the excitement of a start-up environment with the stability of a thriving, well-established industry brand.

Key software development roles available at the company require a strong computer science background, including at least a BSc in the subject or a related field, and excellent problem-solving and development skills.

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments is one of the world’s largest providers of financial services and has had a presence in Ireland since 1996. Today, Fidelity Ireland employs more than 500 technology and operations professionals at offices in Galway and Dublin.

Working at Fidelity Ireland involves supporting business divisions in the US, Europe and Asia, forming part of a worldwide team. At Career Zoo, recruiters are seeking Java developers, Oracle database specialists, BI developers, data warehouse specialists and QA/test engineers.

Aon Centre for Innovation and Analytics

Aon employs more than 60,000 people in 120 countries, including 100 employees at the Aon Centre for Innovation and Analytics (ACIA) in Dublin. Staff here provide advanced insurance research, analytics and business intelligence – insights which give Aon a competitive edge globally.

Established in 2009, ACIA houses a mix of consultants, statisticians, analysts, brokers, insurance professionals, technologists and programmers. Career Zoo visitors will have the opportunity to fill roles such as ETL developer, .Net and Oracle application support, data analyst, data quality analyst and data protection consultant. There are also summer internships available in various areas.

AOL

AOL’s Dublin base is its software development engine in Europe and tech teams here work on projects spanning advertising, media, search and mobile using cutting-edge open-source technologies.

AOL currently has openings for software developers with Java, C++, Hadoop and many more. Representatives will be at Career Zoo hunting for like-minded individuals who are willing to take on challenges that will allow them to flex their creative muscles, hone their skills and build their career. 

Storm Technology

Storm Technology is a business technology consultancy and Microsoft partner coming to Career Zoo to find passionate problem-solvers interested in using great technologies and designing solutions that make a difference to how businesses operate.

The work environment offered by Storm allows for growth and learning experiences, as staff members are exposed to emerging technologies and encouraged to innovate, push the boundaries and do things differently.

The firm currently employs about 80 people in Ireland, located in Dublin city centre and Galway. Open roles include Microsoft software solutions architect, SharePoint developer and consultant, Microsoft business intelligence consultant, Dynamics CRM developer and CRM/XRM consultant, .Net software engineer, Oracle database developer, and technical infrastructure engineer.

CR2

CR2 is a multichannel banking software provider and pioneer in the retail banking software industry. Today, it has more than 110 implementations across 60 countries, driving thousands of ATMs and servicing millions of internet and mobile banking users globally.

Headquartered in Dublin, CR2 has a network of offices and representatives across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, employing a total 200 staff. The company is also expanding into new markets in Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America, and plans to grow its product engineering team and pre-sales support staff in Dublin.

Roles available include graduate QA, software and support engineer, senior software engineer (C++), business analyst and senior web developer.

Accenture

Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company that employs 270,000 people worldwide. Accenture Ireland – which employs 1,600 people – reflects the overall structure of the firm, with operations across five divisions: communications, media and technology, financial services, health and public service, and products and resources.

Science Foundation Ireland

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) is Ireland’s national foundation for investment in scientific and engineering research. SFI will launch a new jobs section for its website on Saturday and expects more than 130 positions will be advertised from its centres by year-end.

Talk to SFI at Career Zoo to find out details and dates of the positions available. The Insight Centre for Data Analytics will actively be seeking to fill more than 66 positions at Career Zoo, for PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, managers and more.

Career advice

For job-seekers coming to Career Zoo, Hays Ireland will open the doors of its Career Clinic, offering one-on-one career advice. Places are by appointment only and pre-registration is required.

There’s also a full-day schedule of workshops covering topics such as how to write a high-impact CV, careers in Irish research, upskilling for a career in tech, and taking your career to the next level.

Also, at this weekend’s event, the Tech Box returns as part of an expanded Tech Town and will feature speakers from ACIA, TripAdvisor, AOL and more.
