Career memes of the week: web developer – part 2

26 Aug 2014

This week’s career memes revisit web developers, the programming language pros who build, test and maintain websites.

There are plenty of memes about web developers so we thought it would be worth putting together this second batch, and also because coding has become the new literacy that gives people the potential to change the world, Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, had said.

Some of the programming languages a web developer would know are C#, HTML, PHP, Java, C++, CSS and MySQL. Web developers also require good communication skills in order to fully grasp project requirements, liaise with clients and colleagues, and communicate technical material in non-technical terms.

Web developers will typically have an educational background in computing/IT or web development. They can then find employment in a variety of organisations, from government departments, to web design agencies, to software companies.

In Ireland, a web developer can now expect to earn an average annual salary of €32,204, according to PayScale.com.
