Online retailer So Sell It to create 25 new jobs in Dublin

Trading community So Sell It is to create 25 new jobs in Dublin over the next two years in the areas of IT development and customer care.

So Sell It began two years ago by offering a full buyback service for the latest electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablet computers and game consoles.

The site now provides consumers with free advertising for life to sell or swap a variety of goods and services.

So Sell It co-founder Glen Reid said the website is all about creating a sense of community in terms of allowing users to dispose of unwanted items quickly, for free and in an environmentally responsible manner.

As the site and service developed, the So Sell It team realised it could give back to the community by helping local and national charities, schools and clubs create awareness of their causes, as well as offering a mechanism for fundraising.

Going global

“Despite the challenges of starting any new business, we were convinced that Ireland was the right place to launch. It has the right talent pool of developers with excellent programming and multilingual skills,” Reid said.

The company operates out of the Guinness Enterprise Centre in Dublin 8 and the new jobs will be primarily in IT development and customer care.

“Enterprise Ireland awarded us ‘High Potential Start Up’ status, which gave us greater credibility, and we are now fully funded through a combination of private investors and Moneybush.net, to allow us to launch So Sell It on a global basis,” Reid said.
