Gigglebit: Welcome to BusinessTown, where disruptive jobs get an illustrated throwback

27 Jan 2015

Gigglebit is Siliconrepublic’s daily dose of the funny and fantastic in science and tech, to help start your day on a lighter note.

Today, we invite you to join us in BusinessTown, an illustrated world lampooning the tech scene – while also nailing it on the head.

Welcome to BusinessTown is a single-topic Tumblr “attempting to explain our highly intangible, deeply disruptive, data-driven venture-backed, gluten-free economic meritocracy to the uninitiated.”

Got it?

Seemingly inspired by the illustrations of children’s author Richard Scarry, BusinessTown is populated by anthropomorphic characters with emerging job titles, contextualised with bleeding-edge buzzwords that have evolved in a post-LinkedIn ecosystem.

In short, some of these characters will be so familiar to anyone involved in the digital creative industry, it might make you cringe.
