Digital Youth Council launches STEM calendar for Ireland’s innovators

12 May 2015

To better inform Ireland’s young digital innovators, the Digital Youth Council of Ireland (DYC) has launched a STEM calendar on its website to help them find events that are on in their area.

The DYC has been working over the past number of months to continue its push for more young people across the country to look at future careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), but also just to develop their own interest in the subjects.

Now, with this new calendar feature, event organisers will be able to promote their events by contacting the council on the contact form on its website , which will allow anyone to be able to easily go onto the site and find upcoming STEM events, with a short description and a link to the event site.

Harry McCann, director of DYC Ireland, said of its launch: “We are really delighted to be able to offer this to young people. We feel the reason that a lot of young people don’t get involved in STEM events is because they simply don’t hear about it until it’s too late to apply or attend, so hopefully this will help. This is also really special because the release of the STEM Event Calendar marks one year of the Digital Youth Council, and we feel this is a great way to mark it.”

Last February, the organisation celebrated a monumental achievement by expanding its remit to the entire island of Ireland and began calling for new members to join the council.
