Sprint is continuing to take the green agenda seriously via the launch of its fourth eco-friendly mobile phone, the Samsung Replenish, with 82pc of the device made from recyclable materials.
Available in the US from 8 May, and priced at US$49.99, the Android touch QUERTY smartphone will be enabled with Sprint ID. As well as this, Sprint is waiving the $10 monthly premium data add-on charge for Samsung Replenish, as it says this will make it easier for customers to make eco-friendly purchasing choices.
According to Sprint CEO Dan Hesse: “Samsung Replenish is as green as we could make it, with more than 80pc recyclable materials, housed in partially recycled plastics, energy efficient and built with fewer environmentally sensitive materials.”
An optional solar-charging battery cover, made from Naturacell, will also be available for the Samsung Replenish.
Other features include:
- Touch QWERTY bar phone with 2.8-inch QVGA main display
- 2MP camera and camcorder
- Android 2.2, Froyo, with access to more than 150,000 apps on the Android Market
- Solar door charging accessory (sold separately)
- MicroSD card slot that supports up to a 32GB memory card.
In terms of its eco credentials, the phone has fully recyclable packaging that incorporates 80pc post-consumer waste material and uses soy inks. Consumers will also get access to the Sprint Green ID pack, which will allow people to source ‘greener’ apps and mobile content.
