Data centre player Dataplex has established a new 70,000 sq-foot data centre in Dublin 15 which it says will have a PUE rating of 1.15 and which uses indirect free air cooling.

The new data centre will be offering wholesale co-location and private suites for corporates, managed service providers, data centre service providers and international IT players.

The B10 facility is located in the Dublin 15 data-centre cluster, and is connected via multiple diversely routed fibre networks, including the T50 carrier ring with access to 27 international carriers, plus direct fibre connectivity from Colt, Digiweb, BT, Viatel and EU Networks.

B10 has 8MW of connected power, designed to a Tier III+ specification and best practice in data centre architecture, achieving power efficiency of 1.15 PUE through availing of the naturally favourable Irish climate and indirect free air cooling.

Private suites and powered shell space are available from 100 sq metres to 3,000 sq metres, and power density from 1.5kW/sqm to 10kW/sqm.

Dataplex is also developing facilities in London and in Malta. The Irish data centre business is led by CEO Eddie Kilbane and the local operation is chaired by Colm Piercy, founder and CEO of Digiweb.

“We are delighted to provide Continent 8 Technologies with their first data centre facility in Ireland, becoming their 10th facility worldwide,” Piercy said, announcing the first customers for the B10 facility.

“Continent 8 are a global managed services provider specialising in cloud and high throughput security services, and are expanding their international footprint and expert team with us in Dublin.”
