19 Apr 2011

Eircom has signed a deal valued at more than €1m with NUI Galway to deliver and support a unified communications and network infrastructure platform for 3,000 users.

Using Avaya and Cisco technology, the new communications platform will provide a number of practical and financial benefits to NUI Galway.

It will enable the staff, students and faculties to connect and collaborate on a mobile basis and have high-speed access to information.

Voice users will experience enhanced services, including voicemail in their Outlook inboxes and access to the corporate directory.

Transformation

“This new platform will transform the way that the staff and students work and communicate in the ‘campus of the future’,” said Ronan Kneafsey, managing director, Eircom Business.

The deployment includes an Avaya IP Telephony system and a unified communications platform for the new engineering building, which will bring together all of the engineering departments.

It also provides a new network infrastructure based on Cisco Systems and provides access to 5,000 network nodes.
