ShoreTel Mobility saves 70pc on international roaming costs - analysis

The ShoreTel Mobility App for smartphones and tablets enables businesses to make these savings as it automatically routes mobile calls via the cheapest path inside and outside the organisation, thus reducing mobile and long-distance costs. Its least-cost routing also uses Voice over IP over wireless local networks and hotspots on leading smartphones and tablets to further help keep international mobile costs down and productivity up.

Irish telephony services provider, Phone Pulse, carried out research with its customers on the savings ShoreTel Mobility provides when calls can be switched from mobile carrier networks.

The telecoms infrastructure audit carried out by Phone Pulse researched all aspects of the organisations' communications to determine a profile of how that business is communicating, both internally and externally. From this, it determined the most expensive methods of communication being used and analysed these to identify the cost savings that will be made using ShoreTel Mobility.

Companies with a mobile workforce of more than six employees or any company with large roaming costs, can realise significant return on investment when using ShoreTel Mobility, with savings of up to 70pc shown through the research carried out by Phone Pulse.

Phone Pulse was so convinced of ShoreTel Mobility’s capabilities that it implemented the solution itself. The company is now on track to eliminate desk phones as users only need a single device for both on- and off-premise contact. Leveraging personal devices that Phone Pulse employees want to use for business will provide additional reductions in capital expenses for the company.

“When we saw the functionality of ShoreTel Mobility we knew it would be a game changer. Since implementing the product ourselves, we have been very impressed and invited customers to trial the technology on our networks," said David Lang, senior telecoms consultant at Phone Pulse.

“We have also carried out analysis of the potential savings for many of our customers. When we looked at their top roaming users and their entire communications infrastructure, the results were staggering. One customer with mobile costs of €35,000 will save €27,000, and another with costs of €100,000 will save €60,000, using ShoreTel Mobility. The return on investment makes this very compelling.”
