Irish software company The Now Factory has won a major contract to provide real-time performance measurement of South African mobile operator Vodacom’s network which supports 31m subscribers.

The Now Factory’s Mobile Moments Vantage will be deployed across Vodacom’s 3G and LTE networks.

The software will provide granular and meaningful measurement of the customer experience, taking into account the impact that individual applications, devices and service types have on data throughput and network performance.

“Measuring and verifying performance across the mobile data network is becoming more challenging for operators given the complex mix of smart devices and services that customers are using across different locations,” said Tom Morrisroe, chief executive of The Now Factory.

“Our Mobile Moments solution will enable Vodacom to successfully address this challenge by providing real-time and meaningful views of how their customers use data services at any given time.”

The announcement was made during this week’s Enterprise Ireland trade mission to South Africa, led by Ireland’s Minister for Trade and Development, Joe Costello, TD.

“Delivering an optimal quality of experience (QoE) to our customers is of key importance for us as we look to build on our market position as the leading provider of mobile broadband services in South Africa,” said Johan Engelbrecht, CEO of Vodacom.

“Partnering with The Now Factory will help us to proactively manage the QoE our customers receive when accessing the diverse range of mobile data services that we offer,” he added.
