UPC Ireland CEO Magnus Ternsjö and An Taoiseach Enda Kenny launch UPC's new 500Mbps superfast broadband service for businesses
Broadband speeds for businesses in Ireland can now be twice as fast as before as telecoms provider UPC offers 500Mbps speeds as part of its new plan.
The service will gradually be rolled out across the country, with Dublin, Galway and Limerick being the first cities to receive the ultra-fast broadband.
Commenting on the announcement, UPC Ireland CEO Magnus Ternsjö said: “We have invested over half a billion euro upgrading our fibre-power network to world-class standards and are constantly improving our product offerings and affordability of our digital services for small and larger business customers, as well as enterprises. This is contributing effectively to business growth, competitiveness and national economic progress.”
UPC Business has recently introduced triple play bundles (broadband, TV, phone) for the first time aimed at hospitality and small business markets.
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny launched the service, stating that the rolling out of the 500Mbps speed is part of the Government’s long-term strategy in promoting business growth.
“This announcement by UPC will make a very welcome contribution to our reputation for broadband capacity and to our overall economic recovery,” Kenny said.
“It will support a key aim in the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs of increasing the number of businesses trading online so that Irish companies can grow new business at home and abroad and ultimately create more jobs.”
