Interview: Commissioner Neelie Kroes on the Digital Assembly, Dublin’s Digital Masterplan and women in IT (video)

European Commission vice-president Neelie Kroes in Dublin today, at the launch of the Digital Masterplan

Neelie Kroes, vice-president of the European Commission, responsible for Europe’s Digital Agenda, took time out from a busy schedule at the Digital Agenda Assembly today to help launch Dublin’s Digital Masterplan. She spoke to Ann O’Dea about the importance of the Assembly, the Digital Masterplan and women in technology.

Kroes was joining the Lord Mayor of Dublin Mr Naoise Ó Muirí, as he launched the Digital Masterplan for Dublin.

Initiated by Dublin City Council, the masterplan aims to be “a roadmap for the smart economy and society” in the greater Dublin area. Developed in co-operation with the Digital Leadership Forum, a key element of the masterplan is the development of the Digital Maturity Scorecard (DMS), an analytical tool to benchmark Dublin’s digital performance internationally, against which the impact of the actions carried out under the plan will be evaluated. Intel, Maynooth’s Innovation Value Institute and Dublin City University developed the scorecard.
