HP brings industry’s first ‘plug and print’ laser printer

14 Apr 2010

The HP LaserJet Pro printer line has been expanded with the addition of new Smart Install technology that requires more or less no installation, allowing the user to set up and print in a couple of minutes.

Smart Install is ‘plug and play’ printing with no CD required – just a USB cable – and printing from any PC, netbook or laptop is quick and easy with the LaserJet Pro P1100 Printer series, M1130/M1210 Multifunction Printer (MFP) series and P1566/P1606dn Printer series.

These printers also have Auto-On technology that intelligently senses certain activities like when a print job is sent to the printer and wakes up the device straight from off mode – this then switches off when there is no print activity.

The difference between power consumption on a regular printer and the HP lines with Auto-On/Auto-Off technology is that users can save up to 72pc on energy costs versus the predecessor.

The printers also use original HP LaserJet print cartridges with energy-efficient toner that give energy savings of up to 35pc on every page in comparison to earlier products.

The LaserJet Pro P1100 Printer series is priced from €109 to €129, features wireless functionality and is HP’s smallest, most affordable laser printer.
