Google launching Chrome Web Store

20 May 2010

Internet search giant Google is launching the Chrome Web Store, where users can find, download and install web-based services.

The Chrome Web Store is reportedly similar to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Android Marketplace, conceptually speaking.

The Chrome Web Store is only for the Chrome web browser – meaning, this website won’t work with any browser – and the upcoming Chrome OS.

There has yet to be word from Google on when exactly the Chrome Web Store will debut, but logic dictates that as it’s a core component of Chrome OS it will be available by the time the first netbooks equipped with Chrome OS will ship – which is to be by the end of this year.
