New Xbox 360 controller, no Xbox Live price hike for Ireland

1 Sep 2010

Microsoft has unveiled a new Xbox 360 controller with an improved D-pad. It has also said the US Xbox Live Gold account price increase will not affect Ireland.

The previous design of the D-pad had received a lot of complaints by players, which Larry Hyrb, director of programming for Microsoft gaming, has said this new design addresses.

The D-pad can be twisted to change the ‘disc’ style into a ‘plus’, giving players the best of both worlds.

Other changes include the A, B, X and Y buttons being changed from their multicoloured style to different tones of grey and the analogue sticks being given a more concave design.

Europe will see the controller released in February 2011.

Microsoft has also confirmed that Ireland will not experience the price increase on Xbox Live that the US will have.

The US will have to pay an annual fee of $60 for an Xbox Live Gold account, an increase by $10.
