Xbox’s Kinect to go on roadshow around Ireland

20 Sep 2010

Microsoft Xbox is inviting members of the public to experience the motion controller-based Kinect for the first time as a part of a national roadshow prior to its 10 November launch.

It will start on 21 September at the National Ploughing Championship. It will then move to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on 24 September, then onto Dundrum Shopping Centre on 25 September.

It will finish at Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords on 26 September.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to bring Kinect to the Irish public for the first time,” said Kieran Penwill, Ireland country manager for Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division.

“Kinect for Xbox 360 brings games and entertainment to life in extraordinary new ways, with no controller required.

“Over the course of the week we are giving consumers a taste of what to expect when it launches in November and build excitement ahead of Christmas.”

Guests will be encouraged to get their picture taken at Xbox’s display in order to be in with the chance to be the first person in Ireland to receive the Kinect.

Each person who takes part in the roadshow will be entered into a draw ahead of the launch. The winner will received the Kinect sensor, an Xbox 360 and a 12-month Xbox LIVE subscription.

Pre-orders will start next month and the sensor will cost from €149.99.

Xbox 360 Kinect console bundles will be available from €299.99. The bundle includes the Kinect Adventures game.
