The tablet market is heating up, with Toshiba now launching its own multimedia tablet computer, the FOLIO 100, which is available in Ireland now for €399.

The FOLIO 100 offers a 10-inch multitouch display and is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2. It weighs 760g and offers seven hours of battery life.

It runs on Android 2.2 and includes USB 2.0, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The tablet includes support for Flash 10.1 for internet browsing, though a plug-in is required which can be downloaded from its site from mid-November, and has an integrated HDMI to connect it to TVs.

There’s a front-facing 1.3 MP web camera for video chatting. Its on-board storage is 16GB and there’s a slot for SD cards, to provide storage of up to 32GB.

The FOLIO provides access to the Toshiba Market Place for apps. It comes with Music Place, a digital music service powered by 7Digital for on-demand music.
