The founder of Wikileaks and the man behind the quarter of a million cable leaks from the US embassy is now wanted by Interpol for alleged sex crimes.

The news comes only days after the information was released and 39-year-old Julian Assange has been added to the international police organisation’s “wanted” list for sex crimes under an arrest warrant issued by the International Public Prosecution Office in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Interpol became involved after the Swedish authorities issued their own international warrants last month, according to the Telegraph.

The data obtained by Wikileaks consisted of a quarter of a million cables from the US embassies, exposing plethoras of information on the US policy towards countries and their leaders.
