16 Dec 2010

LG has unveiled the first smartphone with a dual-core processor – the Optimus 2X – which will be available in Korea next month and will see a European launch later.

The Android 2.2 phone, which will later be upgradable to Gingerbread, boasts a 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and offers a 4-inch WVGA screen.

It has an 8-megapixel camera with 1,080p video recording capabilities, thanks to the chip, along with a 1.3-megapixel camera at the front for video calling. The Tegra 2 chip can also support 3D touch interfaces.

The phone has DLNA capabilities for streaming media content to compatible devices and 8GBs of memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

The LG Optimus 2X also has an accelerometer and a gyro sensor. It supports HDMI mirroring, letting users expand content on external displays for full HD quality.

The phone will be launched in Korea next month, and will arrive in Europe and other Asian countries later.
