First look at Logitech’s Google TV platform
LAS VEGAS – Siliconrepublic got a chance to look at the new Google TV internet television system developed by Logitech, named the Revue platform.
Revue is the result of Logitech’s collaboration with Google to create a smart TV platform that allows users to search for content both on TV and on the web.
At CES the company demonstrated a number of new accessories that will turn the TV in the living room into an entire communications hub for the home.
“The idea behind Google TV is just search and play,” explained Logitech’s Shubada Hebbar.
“You can search both the live TV content and websites even during recording content.”
Hebbar said that most websites work on the platform but the company has been working with businesses and publishers to optimise their websites for a better user experience.
Surf the web on your TV
The Logitech Revue consists of a base station and a keyboard for surfing the web and content.
Among the accessories created to complement the Google TV ecosystem by Logitech are the Logitech Harmony app for Android and iPhone devices that allows users to control their Google TV experience from teir handset, including volume and playback.
The company has also created the Logitech Mini Controller, a palm sized keyboard and touch pad remote control combo and the Logitech TV cam that enables users to make HD video calls on their HDTV.
