LittleBigPlanet 2 is out now

21 Jan 2011

LittleBigPlanet 2 is out now in Ireland, marking the return of Sackboy to PlayStation 3 consoles.

The sequel will not only let gamers customise levels, but create entire games. Players can share their creations across the PlayStation Network and see what others have done in the LittleBigPlanet community.

Gamers can also go through “Play!” mode, taking Sackboy on an adventure through 50 levels.

The original game was launched in 2008, letting gamers both play the game itself but also create their own levels to share with the wider gaming community through the PlayStation Network.

More than 3m levels have been created and shared online by more than 4.5m players.

The game’s creator, Media Molecule, has sent developers to Ireland to host workshops for the second game over the course of the weekend.

More than 200 Irish LittleBigPlanet fans have taken the opportunity to get a first glimpse of the new game and to meet and create levels with the Media Molecule team.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is one of our most exciting releases this year and the fact that some of the team will be coming to Ireland for the launch shows what a vibrant gaming community we have here,” said Niall O’Hanrahan, managing director, Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland.

LittleBigPlanet 2 for PlayStation 3 launches today, costing €59.99.
