Alcatel and CPW reveal a mobile phone for Royal Wedding

22 Mar 2011

Alcatel-Lucent is best known for its technological breakthroughs. That’s why it’s a bit of a surprise for many that the company has released a low-cost, low-tech ‘Union Jack’ phone to commemorate Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton’s upcoming nuptials.

Alcatel in the UK has struck a deal with Carphone Warehouse to offer a special edition Wedding Phone that will retail for just under stg£15.

The phone is a basic Alcatel One Touch device emblazoned with the Union Jack.

On the back of the device are the initials C and W in gold lettering and the date 29-4-11 on a red background.

The home screen comes with wallpaper of the happy couple and the ringtone is Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.

The Alcatel Wedding phone isn’t the only piece of technological paraphernalia to appear in recent weeks. Following suggestions from Facebook users, GE has produced a William and Kate commemorative fridge (below).
