Zynga’s Empires & Allies is ‘strategy combat gone social’

1 Jun 2011

Social gaming company Zynga has launched its first strategy combat game, Empires and Allies, which the company describes as “CityVille meets Risk.”

The game is set on a multi-island game board, where players must build an island nation and arm themselves against enemy forces.

Players can build their army as they fight their enemies’ territories to defeat the final villain.

They can recruit friends and send them to invade enemy territories or can invade their friends’ empires to collect Infamy Points.

Empires & Allies includes 30 characters to guide the player and drive the narrative throughout the game.

Empires & Allies is strategy combat gone social – think CityVille meets Risk,” said Amer Ajami, executive producer of Empires & Allies at Zynga.

“We’re focused on bringing our players a new form of entertainment and a strategy game is definitely a new playground for us. Play is in everyone’s DNA, and this game lets you have fun and get creative by choosing your own destiny, building a nation and eventually, conquering the world.”

Empires & Allies will be available from today onwards in 12 languages.
