Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D arrives on Nintendo 3DS

17 Jun 2011

The 3D remake of the critically-acclaimed Nintendo 64 title The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will arrive on the Nintendo 3DS in Europe today.

The 3DS version will bring re-mastered graphics along with 3D visuals to the classic title, which was originally released in 1998.

The original control scheme has been redesigned to adjust for the Nintendo 3DS. Players can control the protagonist Link by using the circle pad. They can use touchscreen to assign items, check maps and change equipment.

Motion controls have been implemented to let the player look around the environment when using first-person perspective by physically moving the console.

The game will also give tips to first-time players, offering small videos in-game to provide hints on how to solve particular puzzles.

Along with the main adventure, there are two extra modes included – Master Quest and Boss Challenge.

Master Quest changes up puzzles, makes enemies more difficult and places items in different locations to challenge players.

This mode was originally included in a limited-edition Ocarina of Time disc included with the release of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the Gamecube. However, along with this added challenge, locations have now been mirrored, meaning things that were originally on the right are now on the left and vice-versa.

Boss Challenge mode is new to the title, letting players face all the previous bosses they have defeated within the main story mode. They can choose to fight bosses singularly or confront them one-by-one continuously.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is available now.
