Amazon customers are now able to read Kindle e-books instantly using only their web browsers with the new Kindle Cloud Reader.
The Kindle Cloud Reader leverages HTML5 and enables customers to read Kindle e-books either online or offline and with no downloading or installation required.
The app automatically synchronises a user’s Kindle library, as well as his or her notes, highlights, bookmarks and last page read for all Kindle e-books, no matter how a user chooses to read them (via Kindles, iPads, iPhones, BlackBerrys, iPod touches, PCs, Macs and Android phones and tablets).
To help customers discover new books more easily, Amazon has also added an integrated, touch-optimised store directly into Cloud Reader, allowing them one-click access to a vast selection of books, said Dorothy Nicholls, director, Amazon Kindle.
Features of Kindle Cloud Reader include a view of a user’s entire Kindle library with instant access to all e-books, the ability to begin reading more than 950,000 Kindle books instantly within a browser, and to save them for reading offline at any time, automatic software updates without the need to download new software, and customisable colours, font sizes, page layouts and more.
Kindle Cloud Reader with its integrated touch-optimised Kindle Store is available now for Safari on iPad, Safari on desktop and Chrome.
Kindle Cloud Reader will be available on additional web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, the BlackBerry PlayBook browser, and other mobile browsers, in the coming months.
